Verkhnie Sergi

 

an urban-type settlement in Nizhnie Sergi Raion, Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR; 10 km east of the Atig railroad station, on the Druzhinino-Berdiaush line. Located on the Serga River (tributary of the Ufa). Population, 9,500 (1968). Verkhnie Sergi grew out of a settlement near a metallurgical plant that was founded in 1743. There is a plant that produces drill bits for the oil, gas, and mining industries, and also a branch of the Sverdlovsk Machine-Building Technicum.
