Visor Wall

 

in hydraulic engineering, a vertical wall that closes the upper part of a water intake opening and whose lower edge is immersed beneath the minimum level of a hydraulic engineering installation. Visor walls, usually made of reinforced concrete, prevent floating ice and wood from entering water intake works.
