The Santo Tomas sand is a uniform sand with a fine content of 1.21%, uniformity coefficient of [C.sub.u] = 4.08, curvature coefficient of [C.sub.c] = 0.98, effective diameter of [D.sub.10] = 0.16 mm, specific gravity of [G.sub.s] = 2.65, maximum void ratio [e.sub.max] = 0.91 and minimum void ratio [e.sub.min] = 0.54.
Although the particle-crushing-induced complicated system during compression or shearing depends on manifold factors, such as mineralogies, morphology, stress-strain state, void ratio, water content, and test methodologies, but it is consistent with fractal theory in many cases.

It sets out best practices for using strain-stress data from the incremental loading of a soil sample in a standardized consolidometer (step-load test), one-dimensional vertical consolidation theory relating Ksat to the coefficient of consolidation (cv), the relation between Ksat and k, and the relation between the porosity and the void ratio of a soil undergoing primary consolidation.

The S-shaped curves were obtained from 75 tests of a total of 30 sands, with a wide range of confining pressure, relative density and void ratio. Hardin and Drnevich (1972a) and Hardin and Drnevich (1972b) proposed two of the most widely used models (i.e.
They also examined correlations between various soil properties and strength parameters and found that the mean grain size, sphericity, angularity, and void ratio play a role in the measured friction angles.
