Waimea Canyon State Park

Location:11 miles north of Kekaha on Kokee Road (Highway 550); adjoins Kokee State Park (see separate entry).
Facilities:Picnic areas, nature trail, scenic lookout.
Activities:Trout fishing (seasonal), wildland picnicking, hiking; pig and seasonal goat hunting nearby.
Special Features:Rim overlooks one of the state's scenic treasures--the deep, colorful gorge of Waimea Canyon. The site also offers a good view of Niihau Island. Visitors can hike into and out of the canyon through an adjacent forest reserve. The hike is a long one, and strenuous.
