Waldo, Samuel Lovett
Waldo, Samuel Lovett
(1783–1861) painter; born in Windham, Conn. A portrait painter active in Hartford, Conn. (c. 1799), he became an itinerant artist. He studied with Benjamin West and John Singleton Copley in London (1806–08), then settled in New York City (1809) and, after 1820, was the painting partner of William Jewett.
