Location:3 miles southeast of Clinton, in DeWitt County.
Facilities:75 Class A campsites (electrical hookups, shower building, pit toilets), 9 Class C sites, tent, backpack, large group, and youth camping areas, picnic areas, shelters, restrooms, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, fishing platforms, boat ramp, boat rentals, concession stand, 2 outdoor amphitheaters, restaurant, historic site, museum/interpretive center, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, boating (electric motors only), fishing, hiking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, sledding, tobogganing, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Between 1901 and 1921, the property was the site of an annual gathering known as the Chautauqua Assembly. For ten days each summer, area residents created a temporary tent city as they came to hear some of the best public speakers and entertainers of the day. Representing every field of interest, programs were presented for the entertainment, education, and "moral elevation" of the participants. Among the many speakers were former President William Taft, Vice President Adlai Stevenson, William Jennings Bryan, evangelist Sam Jones, Rev. Billy Sunday, Helen Keller, and Carrie Nation.

In addition to the Restricted Archery Zone requirements, public land hunters in Piatt County should note that the IDNR Piatt County Unit of Weldon Springs State Park will be closed to all archery deer hunting from October 1-15.
