White Hall State Historic Site
Location:In Richmond, off I-75 at exit 95.

Special Features:White Hall was the home of Cassius Marcellus Clay, emancipationist, newspaper publisher,
minister to Russia, and friend to Abraham Lincoln. The restored 44-room
Italianate mansion was built in 1799 and remodeled in the 1860s. In
addition to the heirlom and period furnishings, it has many unique
features for its day, including indoor running water and central
heating. Clay's daughter,
Laura, was politically active for women's suffrage and states rights,
and in 1920 she became the first woman to be nominated for US president
by a major political party.
