The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.
Wholesaling Cooperative
a kind of cooperative that unites small-scale commodity producers for the purpose of selling their production. In the early stages of the development of the cooperative movement, wholesaling cooperatives and credit unions were the most common kinds of cooperative. The majority of wholesaling cooperatives also supply their members with the goods needed for production. Under present conditions, this form of cooperation is most often encountered in agriculture.
