(2) A suite of free Windows desktop applications from Microsoft. Essentials includes email and calendar (Mail), a photo organizer and editor (Photo Gallery), video editor (Movie Maker), blog word processor and publisher (Writer) and cloud storage service (OneDrive).

Windows Live Essentials
Introduced in 2006 under the "Live" umbrella, Windows Live Essentials was changed and enhanced with various "upgrade waves" from 2007 to 2011. The "Live" brand was dropped with Wave 5 in 2012 when the suite became Windows Essentials. See Windows Live.
