The theme selected for this year's
World Environment Day is 'Air Pollution' which is a major source of concern for mankind.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Council for Environment also held activities to celebrate the
World Environment Day.
As we mark the 45th
World Environment Day, we must recognise that the unprecedent surge in air pollution and the associated morbidity and mortality is strongly correlated with the rapid pace of urbanisation.
The
World Environment Day is a United Nations (UN) designated day which is marked annually across the world to articulate global environmental concerns.
"Despite the serious health risks caused by the deterioration of environmental conditions in Lebanon -- the risks of pollution of rivers and beaches, and the pollution of air, soil and groundwater -- today we will join the world in its annual celebration of
World Environment Day," Seif said.
June 5th marked
