Zherlitsa

Zherlitsa
fishing tackle for catching predatory fish, chiefly pike or large perch. The zherlitsa consists of a strong fishing line with a metal leader coiled onto a fork; live fish are used as bait. It is suspended low over the water, attached to a stake or the branch of a tree on shore.
