aggregation

the process of combining diverse political interests to form a more or less coherent set of policies which can form a political programme. In representative democracies, according to Almond (1953), this function is especially undertaken by POLITICAL PARTIES, whereas the related function of interest articulation is carried out particularly by interest groups and PRESSURE GROUPS.
