The aim of this work was to analyze an
air ejector through computational fluid dynamics implemented in the Fluent package by Ansys[R] V 16.2.
The pyrolysis gas was driven to the combustion zone by the motive flow (
air ejector) in the recirculation pipes.
When foreign material is identified, the system activates the close-coupled high-speed
air ejector system, which is made up of a series of high-flow valves spaced 0.25 inches (6mm) apart that span the width of the system.
Most optical sorting machines use
air ejector valves, but a flaw with these is that the air blast is fired from one or more ejectors in the bank and is aimed only at the center of the defect (also known as "centroid ejection").
During sorting, the contaminated grains are identified and removed by precision
air ejectors.
Optyx[R] WPS for whole potatoes achieves a three-way sort using a combination of
air ejectors to remove foreign material (FM) and a unique deflector system to separate potatoes for rework from good potatoes.
After it identifies unwanted material, the sorter then removes defective product with a bank of up to 192 precision
air ejectors spaced as close as 1/4-inch apart.
