aircraft scrambling
Directing the immediate takeoff of aircraft from a ground alert condition of readiness. Normally, this is an air defense task. Normal conditions of alert readiness are 2, 3, 5, 15, and 30 min standby. The aircrews are expected to start up and take off within this stipulated period.
