TMC needed to prove to the Engineer of Record (EOR) that a pile anchored to bedrock with a reinforced concrete socket would perform equally to one anchored with a post tensioned
anchor rod. R&M worked with TMC and geotechnical engineering firm Shannon & Wilson to design an innovative and more easily constructible solution that had higher uplift capacity and lower deflections then the specified rock anchors.
The
anchor rod is mainly applied in two aspects in earth relics protection.
It can be seen through the figure structure that there appeared a backing layer, an adhesive layer, and others between fiber gratings and
anchor rod after pasting.
Frame part forms beam frame structure system, the head of
anchor rod connected with the frame in the intersection of the column and beams, inner end anchor is fixed in the soil, the soil of frame beam is transmitted from anchor head to steel rod, and then, through the friction, it is passed to the surrounding soil of anchorage zone to support the earth pressure force of frame structure.
A 1-1/8-inch plastic gas line was severed when workers, drilling a vertical hole to install an anchor for a guy line to support a utility pole, struck a large buried slab of concrete, bending the
anchor rod and causing it to strike the gas line.
The
anchor rod may have snapped and the ship drifted near the shore where high winds and waves are believed to have swamped the vessel.
The mechanical characteristics, structural characteristics, and working mechanism of several typical bolts are analyzed by Professor He MC, and a new type of an energy-absorbing
anchor rod is developed which is called the constant resistance and large deformation bolt (CRLB).
The
anchor rod may have snapped and the ship drifted near shore where high winds and waves are believed to have swamped the vessel.
The
anchor rod is a long rod rigged with a large wire and weight "anchor" hook which is cast as far as possible from the pier into deep water.
