Previous studies showed that schistosomiasis and malaria and are the main risk factors for anemia in young adults13 13.88% of pupils in group I and 96% of group II students said ferritin as a storage form of iron, while students in both groups used
apoferritin as a storage form.
([10,11])
Apoferritin, the protein fraction of ferritin, that holds oxidized iron molecules.
SF consists of iron-rich ferritin and iron-poor
apoferritin [96, 97].
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian researchers applied
apoferritin protein cage to synthesize cobalt nanoparticles for designing an appropriate biosensor to detect various compounds, including hydrogen peroxide, phenol, etc.
Ferritin that is not associated with iron is called
apoferritin and subunit combination varies in different tissues (5).
It is composed of spherical outer shell of an iron-free protein,
apoferritin, andan inner core of trivalent iron Fe+3 (oxidized)1.
In the intestinal mucosal cell, ferrous iron is bound by
apoferritin and then oxidized by ceruloplasmin to ferric iron bound to ferritin.
When infection or inflammation is present, neutrophils release lactoferrin or
apoferritin. When iron binds to lactoferrin and
apoferritin, it is converted to intoferritin and stored rather than being available for hemoglobin development (Gaspad, 2005).
(9.) "NanoMagnetics grows tiny magnetic grains within hollow protein spheres called '
apoferritin, which are 10000 times smaller than the diameter of human hair.
