Prognosis was evaluated according to four currently used staging systems, i.e., Dukes' system, the modified TNM system described by the American Joint Committee for cancer staging, the Australian Clinicopathological staging system and the
Astler Coller staging system.
This is different for pT3pN0 tumors, stage IIA tumors according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) and UICC and B2 tumors according to the modified
Astler and Coller classification.

CRC patients were grouped according to Duke's classification, as modified by
Astler and Coller (21), on the basis of the postoperative histopathologic evaluation.
After resection and with distant metastases excluded, the patient was staged as C2 according to Dukes' classification, modified by
Astler and Coller (9); she then received six cycles of adjuvant combination chemotherapy.
