A process that is not in continuous or mass production; operations are carried out with discrete quantities of material or a limited number of items.

batch process

A non-interactive operation. Although a user may initiate a batch process, it is typically a behind-the-scenes operation that runs to completion and does not require continuous input from the user. See batch processing.
