boilerplate code

Common programming statements that are required in the source code to identify the language or that are necessary to identify or implement specific functions. The code is always the same or nearly always the same, which is the reason for the "boilerplate" moniker. The source code editor program may be able to insert a great deal of boilerplate code into the source code of the application. See boilerplate.
