broadcast-controlled air interception

An interception in which the interceptor is given a continuous broadcast of information concerning an enemy raid and effects interception without further control. The interceptors are not closely controlled. This form of interception is resorted to when there is a mass raid and it is not possible to vector all the interceptors onto the target. This method is now not in vogue.
