In a drilling operation, the supporting stay between the main foundation sill and the engine block.

A vibrating machine for ramming and consolidating sand into a mold.

1. A device (other than an oil buffer or spring buffer) designed to stop an elevator car or counterweight from descending beyond its normal limit of travel; the car strikes the bumper, which absorbs the impact.

2. On a doorframe, a rubber silencer to reduce noise caused by the slamming of a door.
