byte serving
byte serving
Also called "page on demand," it is the ability to retrieve a specific page or set of pages rather than the entire document. For example, if the Web server and browser support byte serving, Acrobat files (PDF files) can be viewed as soon as the first couple of pages have been downloaded. The remainder of the file is retrieved in the background.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc. All Rights reserved. THIS DEFINITION IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.
