After getting the cortical bone geometry the cancellous part was modeled by subtracting the tibia model with the shell model to obtain cancellous bone geometry as shown in Fig.
Considering the limitations of transferring the findings of this study to the clinical aspects, it should be highlighted that the screws' bore taper allow better adaptation to the vertebra due to sticking to the cancellous bone (Lill et al.).
To incorporate realistic material for bone tissues in maxilla or mandible the FEM may employ full orthotropy for cortical bone as the elastic behavior in cortical bone approximates to an orthotro- pic materials and transversely isotropic for cancellous bone. Orthotropy is a form of anisotropy in which the internal configuration of the material results in unique elastic behavior along the three orthogonal axis of the material.
Thus, the Duetto SI stem was developed as a stem fitting the skeleton of Japanese by Professor Itoman while maintaining the characteristic: conservation of cancellous bone and bone marrow.
Set to launch in February, ExoShape, according to the company, is the only femoral fixation device fabricated completely out of PEEK Altera polymer and offers dual locking modes in cancellous bone and at aperture to achieve complete anatomic ACL reconstruction.
Two scans parallel to the reference line and 1.75 and 2.00 mm distal to the growth plate were evaluated regarding the bone mineral density of the whole tibia metaphysis, the cancellous bone density and the cortical bone density.
