Equipment designed to raise carrier signal levels to such a value that they may traverse a succeeding line section at such amplitude as to preserve an adequate signal-to-noise ratio; while the heart of a repeater is the amplifier, necessary adjuncts are filters, equalizers, level controls, and so on, depending upon the operating methods.
