carton pierre

A mixture of glue, whiting, paper-pulp, and chalk; molded, dried, and finished to form durable, usually interior, architectural embellishments imitating stone, metal, etc.; a kind of papier-mâché used for making lightweight cast ornaments where plaster would be too heavy.
