Template DNA was extracted from the paraffin sections of the
cecum that contained the botryomycotic granules of the current case, followed by the method described by Hykin et al.
Tumors of the terminal ileum,
cecum, and ascending colon represent possible causes of progressive intestinal intussusception.
Each side of the
cecum was injected with 1.2 ml acetic acid solution (4.08% acetic acid in 0.75 M phosphate buffer, pH adjusted to 6.80 with 10 N NaOH).
The mesh plug following inguinal hernia repair presented as a SET in the
cecumOn exploration, the appendix was found to be completely inverted into the
cecum (Figure 3).
It can be seen most commonly in the sigmoid colon, less frequently in the
cecum, descending colon and transverse colon.
Relative abundance of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes were decreased by 3.80% and 11.4%, whereas relative abundance of Proteobacteria in the
cecum of geese in Group I was increased by 64.3% compared with those in Group II.
The organs were weighted and the fresh contents of crop, ileum, and
cecum from 21 chickens per treatment were stored at -20AdegC for the determination of SCFAs and succinic acid.
The cecal intubation rate of 73.3% (66/90) with the transnasal gastroscope was low and disadvantageous, compared with the 90-95% rate for standard colonoscopy.[6] Because soft insertion of a 5.9-mm transnasal endoscope allows easier looping while passing through the sigmoid colon, under the specific conditions of some patients, we were unable to prevent looping by manipulation attributed to the failure of
cecum insertion.
In addition, ischemic necrosis and perforation may be seen in the prominent distension of the
cecum (>9-12 cm) (3).
Difficulty in detecting an inverted appendix can be exacerbated if the adjacent
cecum is filled with feces as we saw in our patient (Figure 3).
To prevent this,
cecum should be fixed, and duodenopexy should be performed after Ladd's procedure [16].
