cement-coated nails. Resist the temptation to try to pull the nails; you will only succeed in splintering the wood and frustrating yourself.

cement-coated nails, but screws and glue would make the joints more durable.

Instead, carpenters build with easier-to-drive 16d box nails, 16d cement-coated (glue-coated) sinkers or 16d power-driven
cement-coated nails (Fig.A).
You secure the 2x4s and plywood with 16d
cement-coated nails, nailed every 16 in.
