IN the year 2017, like never before, Nigeria was faced with several outbreaks:
cerebrospinal meningitis, Lassa fever, yellow fever, cholera and most recently Monkeypox.
Computer files in sentinel hospitals were also reviewed to identify all cases with 12 specific initial diagnostic codes: Japanese encephalitis (JE), viral encephalitis, viral meningitis, viral meningoencephalitis, other encephalitis, meningococcal meningitis, purulent meningitis,
cerebrospinal meningitis, TB meningitis, TB meningoencephalitis, other meningitis, and other diagnosis.
