Animals were divided into 6 groups as follows: 1) Control group; 2) Doxorubicin (0.5mg as a positive control); 3) chrysanthemum (LD, low dose, 0,5 mg); 4) chrysanthemum (HD, high dose, 5 mg); 5) DOX + low dose of Chrysanthemum indicum (0,5 mg); 6) DOX + high dose of Chrysanthemum indicum (5 mg), and treated for 45 days.
In the present study, both the micronucleus test and the comet assay were cooperatively used to study the protective effect of Chrysanthemum indicum extract against DOX-induced genotoxicity at a chromosomal level as well as a DNA level.
