clamshell thrust reverser
A thrust reverser, clamshell door system that fits in the exhaust system of a turbojet engine. The clam doors, which form an integral part of the tailpipe, open when the system is deployed and duct the exhaust gases around so that they flow forward to oppose the forward movement of the aircraft.
