clean PC
(1) A personal computer that is free of viruses, spyware and adware. See malware.
(2) A Windows PC that is free of applications added by the hardware vendor. The apps often duplicate functions included with the operating system, or they may be trial versions of software or offers to subscribe to some service. Because the apps are commonly set to launch at startup, the software often slows down the boot process, and novice users never think about reconfiguring or removing them.
For a service fee, a retailer may offer to remove all added software from a machine, new or old. See Signature PC.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc. All Rights reserved.
