combo chip

combo chip

An integrated circuit that includes two or more subsystems that were originally contained on separate chips. Examples are communications chips that support multiple radio technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS or Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and FM. A CPU chip that includes a GPU on the same die is also known as a combo chip (see Sandy Bridge and AMD Fusion).
