In telemetry, signals recorded on a tape, along with the data and in the same track as the data, used during the playback of data to correct electrically the effects of tape-speed errors.

The compensation signals current [i.sub.f] or voltage [u.sub.f], are compared with their estimated reference signal, current [i.sub.f,ref], or voltage [u.sub.f,ref] respectively.
