A statistically significant difference between the [LC.sub.50] values of 1st instars and the other instars was obtained as a result of the non-overlapping of the 95% confidence limits. Similar differences were found between some other instars, as shown in Table 1, although the 95% confidence limits overlapped among some instars, indicating no significant differences.
The control mortality was corrected by Abbott's formula and [LC.sub.50] and [LC.sub.90] regression equation and 95% confidence limits of lower (LCL) and upper confidence limits (UCL) were calculated by using probit analysis.
The analyses were performed assuming a variance ratio of 1 and confidence limits of the slope calculated for [alpha] = 0.05.
The confidence limits were not calculated in these cases.
We have found that up to 39% of patients with acute stroke show arterial oxygen desaturation on swallowing 10ml of water to a degree in excess of the lower 95% confidence limit for controls without neurological disease, and that desaturation is related to an independent assessment of aspiration by a speech therapist.
Of remaining 8 males, heights of 6 (75%) males with various Right Hand Width values found to be laying in corresponding 95% Confidence Limits. While heights of less proportion of females (40%), found lying in respective 95% Confidence Limits of height.
Conservative management had a high success rate, with 75% (n= 174/232; 95% confidence limits [CL]: 69%, 80%) of all birds successfully released back to the wild.
(10) Using the method in this work, I assumed that the atypicals, those discharges with charges above the upper confidence limit or below the lower confidence limit, are possibly inaccurate and can be corrected.
The false alarm reducing method defines another confidence limit to further reduce the false alarms of [T.sup.2] and Q statistics.
The confidence limit is 4.0 mmHg, which is less than a priori criterion of 5 mmHg.
From Figure 7, it can be seen that sixth lag in the ACF and PACF graphs slightly exceeded confidence limit. Thus, results of Box-Ljung test used to find out whether the residuals have white noise are presented in Table 4.
Later under step 3 in chapter 7, HEC-17 uses the upper 90 percent confidence limit from historical precipitation records to determine whether future precipitation projections from climate models should be weighted more heavily in the design.
