Reveal the concealed--Morphological variations of the
coronoid process, condyle and sigmoid notch in personal identification.
Furthermore, its symptoms are common to several other conditions, such as TMD, trismus, and other tumoral alterations of the
coronoid process. An HCP diagnosis is seldom taken into consideration [10].
It also revealed the parallel-sided anterioposterior borders of the ascending ramus, slender and pointed
coronoid process facing upward, thin zygomatic arch and increased bone density between the anterior border of the ascending ramus and the inferior dental canal [Figure 1]f.
* Coronoid width (CW) (distance between
coronoid process tips).
Osteology of the
coronoid process with clinical correlation to coronoid fractures in terrible triad injuries.
Radiographs showed neglected old unreduced posterior elbow dislocation, fractures of radial head, and
coronoid process.
Coronoid process was displaced anteriorly and proximally (Figs.
Fragmented medial
coronoid process of the ulna in the dog.
Complementary investigations with a CT-scan revealed heterotopic calcifications over the
coronoid process. He benefited from a second procedure with heterotopic calcification removal.
Clinical evaluation and computed tomography of his head and face revealed a small intraparenchymal hemorrhage of the right posterior temporal lobe, as well as a comminuted left parasymphyseal fracture and a displaced left mandibular angle fracture extending up thru the
coronoid process (Figure 1).
Lower jaw with outer row of 4-5 curved, enlarged, spaced canines reaching to bend of dentary, several irregular inner rows of slightly curved caniform teeth half size of outer, becoming reduced in size and less curved posteriorly and tapering to form single row of straight conical teeth at beginning of
coronoid process; innermost row of enlarged slightly curved teeth at symphysis, increasing in size along jaw (equal in size to outermost row just behind bend of dentary, then gradually decreasing in size to dorsal tip of
coronoid process (becoming equal in size to teeth in inner rows).
Dissection Procedure: The attachment of the masseter muscle from the zygomatic arch was resected and the muscle was reflected downward, detaching from the lateral surface of the mandible to expose the
coronoid process and ramus of the mandible.
