Diode Ventures, a global turnkey asset development company, and Tenebris Fiber, a
dark fiber provider in Virginia, have agreed to co-develop an approximate 630-mile network from Virginia Beach, VA to Ashburn, VA to offer
dark fiber services in Virginia, the companies said.
All of
Dark Fiber Systems' colleagues have joined Hargray.
The
dark fiber solutions include leasing of multiple long haul
dark fiber routes, including fully redundant paths to meet growing diversity requirements.
Dark fiber refers to the unused portion of the fiber-optics in the transmission grid.
The route will also be available for 100G wavelengths in addition to
dark fiber once completed.
Banks and financial services companies are increasingly turning to
dark fiber for their bandwidth-intensive core transport, including file sharing, large file transfers, business intelligence applications and data analysis.
Its solution consist of over 30
dark fiber pairs along completely diverse routes for the data center provider and leverages existing low-latency routes in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan corridor, requiring limited buildout.
Among several proposed ESL changes was a revised description of eligible
dark fiber service in Category One to read "Leased
Dark Fiber." The change is intended to help explain the distinction between lit fiber, leased
dark fiber and self-provisioned fiber under E-rate program rules.
With the recent updates to E-rate, district leaders can choose between building and maintaining their own networks using
dark fiber or trusting the job to a communications service provider.
Croft pioneered engineering, tracking and reporting expectations for deliverables for the
dark fiber Super Regional Network deployment initiation--a project which began in West Texas moving east to Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
This mirror of Site 1 data has been kept synchronized up until the time of the disaster with Site 1 data by the iSCSI switch at Site 1 performing synchronous mirroring over the
dark fiber DWDM connection.
