default file format to ODF.The news has won Microsoft words of praise from IBM and OpenOffice.org spokesperson, John Mcreesh who commented, "The whole purpose of having an open standard is to give people freedom of choice.
"The newly approved ISO/IEC 26300, Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) v1.0, has been designed to be used as a
default file format for office applications with no increase in file size or loss of data integrity," said an ISO/IEC statement.
