Stuart, who tours with Ringo Starr later this year, said: "Everything is pretty much in the digital domain now, but some of the
digital remasters are so bad, which we discovered with the AWB catalogue about 10 years ago.
Another memorable recording is Al Green's Take Me to the River (Right Stuff/EMI), which features 30
digital remasters of the soul singer's classics, including "Tired of Being Alone," "Let's Stay Together," "I'm Still In Love With You," "Love and Happiness," and "Take Me to the River." There are also live performances, including "For the Good Times."
As for The Byrds, Sony has been leading the way (in some instances, at least) with some noteworthy
digital remasters of their individual albums; and they weren't known as well for their folk music.
When compact discs made their general debut in the states about five years later, the lion's share of the initial releases were, again,
digital remasters of existing product, and again these were seen as a bid to capture repeat sales.
