Slope flow recharged from excess infiltration reaches the outlet fast through the underground rivers, and its discharge hydrograph rises and declines rapidly.
According to the discharge hydrograph of three stations in 1991 (Figure 4), it can be seen that the spring hydrograph of the upstream Muzhudong station displays a spike type with large discharge variation and short lag time to precipitation.

Discharge hydrograph. Although the drainage basin with diversion terraces and grassed waterway is approximately twice the size of the basin with up-and-down slope cultivation [6.68 ha vs 3.54 ha (16.5 acres vs 8.75 acres)], it is logical to assume that both basins should have similar hydrological response characteristics because of their relatively small size and similar physiographic conditions.
Discharge hydrographs provide graphical representations of the relationships between rainfall and runoff.
They included Waller Creek in their study, and predicted that "the time sequence of the discharge hydrograph will be shortened, the peak discharge will be increased, and the unit yield (in/m[i.sup.2]) will be increased" as a result of future increases in urbanization.
While the system calculates discharge hydrographs for all 420,000 links, communicating this information directly to the general public would be impractical and meaningless in most locations.
The fundamental differences are rooted in the hydraulic performance, the size, the speed pattern, the basic form of the regressive and progressive curves, and also the discharge hydrographs.
Evidence of year-to-year variation in Kaskawulsh Glacier meltwater routing has been observed in Kluane Lake discharge hydrographs (Johnson, 1991b).
