They have both inotropic and vasodilating actions on venous capacitance and arterial conductance vessels, and therefore they increase cardiac output and lower pulmonary vascular resistance, systemic vascular resistance, and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure.[7] As with dobutamine hydrochloride, their effectiveness is probably limited, unless administration occurs shortly after the CNS event.
