The production of optical fibers consists of a series of inline processes; the drawing of glass fiber from a heated silica preform in the furnace, the cooling of
drawn glass fiber in a dedicated fiber cooling system, the coating of polymers on the bare glass fiber, and the ultraviolet (UV) curing on the fiber coatings.
