The stated
durometer from the roller manufacturer may be incorrect, and nip
durometers can change with use and age.
Durometer models featured on the company's informative website include various types.
* "Feel" versus thickness: The tactile feel of an overmolded part is the sum of several factors, just one being the inherent softness (Shore A
durometer) of the TPE.
Durethane C is a machinable, solid thermoset polyurethane that can be custom-formulated in wide ranges of conductivity and
durometer. Available in sheets, bars, rods and tubes, the material is also available as custom-manufactured components and in foam formulations.
Addition curing solid silicone rubbers offered by the company include Elastosil R plus 4001, said to be a highly versatile silicone now also available with either an extremely hard or extremely soft
durometer A value.
Initial grades (black and natural) have 60 Shore A
durometer. They are said to adhere well to polycarbonate, ABS, PC/ABS, and rigid PVC.
Reclaim was evaluated as a 10 phr, 20 phr, 30 phr and 50 phr replacement for a 40
durometer silicone base.
The TPO has a
durometer of 40 D - relatively hard, but still soft compared with PP or PE, Cowperthwait notes.
The AD-100 analog
durometer is said to be the ideal choice for a wide range of
durometer hardness measuring applications.
The tiny pellets enable rotomolders to use materials with a
durometer below 55 Shore A while still meeting tough new automotive specs, which reportedly has not been possible with drysols.
