dynamotor
[′dī·nə‚mō·dər] (electricity)
A rotating electric machine having two or more windings on a single armature containing a commutator for direct-current operation and slip rings for alternating-current operation; when one type of power is fed in for motor operation, the other type is delivered by generator action. Also known as rotary converter; synchronous inverter.
