Following is a summary of the different kinds of electric vehicles (EVs) on the market. See electric vehicle.

 ---NO GAS TANK---Charging Only
   EV/BEV - Battery Electric Vehicle
    i.e. Tesla, Chevrolet Bolt


 ---HAS GAS TANK---Runs on gas or batteryNo Charging
   HEV  - Hybrid EV
    i.e. Toyota Prius, Honda CR-V

   Runs on gas with electric assist
  No Charging
   MHEV - Mild Hybrid EV
    i.e. Ford Puma, Land Rover Evoque

   Runs on gas or batteryExternal Charging
   PHEV - Plug-in HEV
    i.e. Toyota Prius, Honda CR-V
