Testing follows MTL-STD-464 DoD Interface Standard for Systems Electromagnetic Effects Requirements and determines the item's susceptibility to the operational
electromagnetic environment (EME).
Essentially the S2AS provides spectrum managers with the ability to take a real time snapshot of the
electromagnetic environment and compare the database records against the actual spectrum picture.
In 1988 the facility developed and implemented the first Combat
Electromagnetic Environment Simulator (CEESIM), which was transitioned to industry for integrating RWR technology.
RF marking, in conjunction with the receiver's narrowband filtering capability, allows analysis within a complex spectrum or a highly disturbed
electromagnetic environment. The RF marking in the antenna analyzer is made internally or externally.
But, although the technology is already commonplace in homes, it isn't designed to operate reliably in the harsh physical and
electromagnetic environment found on aircraft.
A session dedicated to the
electromagnetic environment will provide information on a variety of environments including shipboard and hospital.
"One of our top priorities is to ensure acquired spectrum-dependent systems will properly function in a diverse
electromagnetic environment," he said.
The theme of the conference will be "Modeling and Simulation of the
Electromagnetic Environment," to include modeling of networked systems and networks used for federal, civil and defense related activities.
Comptek's Combat
Electromagnetic Environment Simulator (Ceesim) has been developed for a number of applications including operator, aircrew and joint forces training in EW.
Researchers taking one of the closest looks yet into the intact proton have found an unexpectedly complex interior
electromagnetic environment. The new findings come as a shock to nuclear and particle physicists who have considered this aspect of the proton to be well understood for more than a half century.
