A reactant which accepts an electron pair from a molecule, with which it forms a covalent bond.

An electrophilic reagent, N-hydroxysuccinimide, and a dehydrating-condensing agent, 3-dimethylaminopropyl-carbodiimide hydrochloride, are added.
It is quite different from the reaction of R and 5MR with formaldehyde and refers to the decisive factor of the reactivity of methylol electrophilic reagent on reaction rate.
These compounds have resulted from the condensation-cyclization of dilithiated 2-tetralone oxime with electrophilic reagents, primarily aromatic esters, or select ketones.
