In rare instances, a sudden onset of visual loss has been reported in patients with pituitary adenoma, craniopharyngioma, mucoceles, and pyoceles of the paranasal sinuses, as well as in sphenoid sinus
esthesioneuroblastoma. (5) The case reported herein emphasizes that HPV-related sinonasal carcinoma with adenoid cystic-like features is one cause of sinonasal tumors, and that it may lead to sudden blindness and intermittent epistaxis.
Olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), also referred to as
esthesioneuroblastoma, was first described by Berger in 1924.

Esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB), or olfactory neuroblastoma, is a tumor of the nasal and paranasal sinuses, derived from the olfactory neuroepithelium [1, 2] and represents only 3-6% of all cancers in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses [2, 3].
The tumor pathology was as follows: schwannoma ( n = 24), chordoma ( n = 16), meningioma ( n = 14),
esthesioneuroblastoma ( n = 13), carcinoma ( n = 6), neuroendocrine carcinoma ( n = 5), adenocarcinoma ( n = 3), chondrosarcoma ( n = 2), angiofibroma ( n = 1), and rhabdomyosarcoma ( n = 1).
Esthesioneuroblastoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma, and sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma: differentiation in diagnosis and treatment.
This includes congenital lesions (encephalocele, glioma, teratoma, dermoid, and epidermoid), granulomatous diseases (Wegener's granulomatosis and sarcoidosis), and neoplasms (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, mucoepidermoid carcinoma, sarcoma,
esthesioneuroblastoma, schwannoma, angiofibroma, and hemangioma) as well as infectious conditions (tuberculosis, syphilis, rhinoscleroma, leprosy, actinomycosis, aspergillosis, and mucormycosis) [15].
KEY WORDS: Sinonasal tract, Olfactory neuroblastoma,
Esthesioneuroblastoma, Immunohistochemistry.
These patients do not include those with intracranial primary tumors,
esthesioneuroblastoma, or ganglioneuroma.
Esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB) is a rare neuroendocrine tumor that arises from the neural cells of the olfactory mucosa.
