exalted-carrier receiver

exalted-carrier receiver

[ig¦zȯl·təd ′kar·ē·ər ri‚sēv·ər]
(electronics)
Receiver that counteracts selective fading by maintaining the carrier at a high level at all times; this minimizes the second harmonic distortion that would otherwise occur when the carrier drops out while leaving most of the sidebands at their normal amplitudes.
