first-line servicing

first-line servicing

The servicing of aircraft that includes preflight, in-between flights, and post-flight inspections and replenishment and replacement of items such as tires. Major unserviceabilities are not normally attended to during first-line servicing, and repairs or rectification requiring hangar facilities also do not fall into this category. Also referred to as first-echelon maintenance.
