A MILLION of the new homes the Government wants to put in place before 2020 will be built on
flood plains, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABL) this week.
"In the 100-year flood category there will be a 90 per cent reduction in the
flood plain and 60 per cent reduction in the 1,000-year flood at Talybont.

flood plain, so to address this we will be regrading a different area to take the flood water.
If your community has adopted building standards that allow such construction, homeowners in the
flood plain with an excavated subgrade crawl space will bear an additional financial burden through a 15-20 percent increase on flood insurance premiums.
In addition, a small earth mound will be constructed to allow a controlled flow of surface water from the
flood plain and ditch, providing an increased level of protection for Wellfield residents.
